Computations of soliton impact onto a vertical wall: Comparing incompressible and compressible assumption with experimental validation

This paper present numerical computations of solitary wave impact on a vertical wall. Different breaking cases were studied such as the high-aerated (air-pocket) or low-aerated (flip-through) in order to test software ability accurately reproduce generated wall pressure loads. The toolbox OpenFOAM was used here under incompressible and compressible assumptions, together with 2D 3D configurations. First, an idealised case validate convergence analytical value impulse. Pressure impulse always numerically obtained but levels never converged assumption. Switching assumption, time series both experimental configuration used. A large variety spatial temporal variations highlighted this study that enable some physical interpretation mechanism.
